Janice has a Bachelor’s Degree with a double major in Psychology and Social Anthropology, and a Certificate in Disability Management from Dalhousie University. She obtained her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto.
As an Occupational Therapist, Janice has worked with clients who have chronic mental health, psychological trauma, chronic pain, neurological and physical health concerns. She also has experience working with burns, physical polytrauma, hands, and cognitive injuries. She collaborates with clients to help with activity scheduling, behavioural activation, energy conservation strategies, sleep hygiene, stages of mental health and cognitive recovery, distress tolerance, and mindfulness.
She is passionate about providing treatment that is client-centered and practicing trauma-informed care. Janice enjoys working together with clients to create individualized strategies that support them in achieving their goals.
Janice believes in continuing education to enhance her clinical skills for the benefit of her clients. She holds her Crisis Intervention Training and SafeTalk certification. She also has skills and training in psychotherapy, cognitive adaptation training, and motivational interviewing.
In her free time, Janice enjoys backcountry hiking with loved ones and her dog, Lyn. She also likes running, cycling, and exploring the Ottawa Valley.
