Mary Oldford-MacIntosh Masters in Occupational Therapy from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, from Mount Saint Vincent University. She has worked as an occupational therapist for 17 years.

Mary has specialized training in motivational interviewing and am trained in solution-focused brief therapy.

She also has experience working in private medical clinics, providing assessments, treatment, collaborative goal-setting, and counselling to adult patients for a variety of health-related concerns, including: anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and return to work concerns.

Mary has worked for seven years in the inpatient and outpatient mental health programs with the Cape Breton District Health Authority. In my roles within the Cape Breton Health Authority. She has planned, organized, and carried out therapeutic activity groups for clients attending outpatient mental health centres in three local communities. She has also provided client-centered OT assessments and treatment based on individual clients needs and wants in regards to their self-care, productivity, and leisure.

As an OT with the Crossroads Cape Breton Program, she provided various rehabilitative, vocational, psychosocial, and restorative opportunities to mental health clients attending the community-based program. She worked collaboratively to assess clients’ needs and assisted with developing individual goals based on psychosocial rehabilitation guidelines with the Crossroad setting. She assisted members with development of skills and abilities, which strengthen illness management and community integration.
