Shannon is a co-owner of Modern OT.
Shannon’s expertise in acquired brain injury rehabilitation resulted in her being a leader in occupational therapy delivery throughout Eastern Ontario. Her professional training and experience allows her to handle complex files requiring advanced assessment and intervention solutions for individuals recovering from all injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents, work place accidents and trauma-related injuries. Clients present with multiple injuries, including complex orthopedic injuries, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, soft tissue injuries, psychological disorders, and chronic pain. Shannon completes home safety and accessibility assessments, attendant care assessments, physical demands analyses, work readiness, return to work planning, and future care cost assessments.
Shannon has extensive experience working within Ontario’s Automobile Insurance Legislation (SABS), as well as LTD legislations. In addition to being co-owner ModernOT, Shannon manages an active caseload, maintaining her skills in clinical practice along with extensive continuing education endeavors. Her past experience includes working as clinical supervisor of an inpatient tertiary care rehabilitation unit, as well as clinical manager for a rehabilitation company, where she was responsible for complex files, quality assurance measures, clinical supervision and programming.
She has completed a Master’s level International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Course at the University of Toronto. She is a member of Wounds Canada and has provided teaching and training across Canada. She is also an ADP Authorizer, and is certified in the Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP) and CogMed Working Memory Training. She is a member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO), and the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT).
