Occupational therapy is available to all members of the public. We work with individuals recovering from injury, and living with chronic illness and permanent impairments. We work with each client to optimize their function and meet their goals for an outcome of quality of life.
Occupational therapy services include:
- an individualized assessment, during which the client/family and occupational therapist determine the person’s goals,
- customized intervention to improve the person’s ability to perform daily activities and reach the goals, and
- an outcomes evaluation to ensure that the goals are being met and/or make changes to the intervention plan.
Occupational therapy services also include comprehensive evaluations of the client’s home and other environments (e.g., community, workplace, school), recommendations for adaptive equipment and training in its use, and guidance and education for family members and caregivers. Our occupational therapy practitioners often work with other professionals involved in with our client’s care to ensure a holistic perspective, in which the focus is on adapting the environment to fit the person. The person is also an integral part of the therapy team.
Please feel free to call us with your concerns, questions, or discuss how our services can help you, your child, friend, sibling, neighbour, spouse or parent. In discussing your situation, we will match our expertise to recommend the best occupational therapist on our team to meet your needs.
