Aly obtained her Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Kinesiology and her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She also holds a Disability in Physical Activity (DIPA) Certificate from Queen’s University. Her educational experience allows her to promote overall well-being by working with clients to identify and address barriers that prevent them from participating in the meaningful activities they value.

Aly has a broad range of clinical experience, having worked in both hospitals and community-based settings, in-person and virtually. At Modern OT, she works with adults, seniors, veterans, and military personnel, using her diverse experience to help them overcome barriers to participating in meaningful activities. Her clinical expertise includes the assessment and treatment of clients with brain injuries, concussions, orthopedic injuries, chronic pain, mental illness, trauma, and fatigue. Through her work in acute stroke and intensive care units, Aly has gained valuable insights into early recovery strategies, enabling her to provide support right from the start of her clients’ rehabilitation journeys. In her community-based work, she emphasizes long-term rehabilitation and fosters independence, creating personalized care plans that address not only physical needs but also prioritize overall well-being. Aly’s client-centered approach ensures that she collaborates closely with each individual client, focusing on enhancing their engagement in meaningful daily activities that resonate with their personal goals and values. Aly is especially passionate about working with clients through their concussion recovery.

Aly has completed additional training in mental health support, including Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), which has deepened her understanding of trauma-informed care. Additionally, her training in Motivational Interviewing enables her to collaborate with clients in developing meaningful goals that enhance their overall quality of life. She is passionate about concussion education and advocacy, leveraging her background in brain injury rehabilitation to empower clients through education, skill-building, and promoting long-term health.

In her spare time, Aly enjoys exploring Kingston’s waterfront trails, playing games on the NYT crossword app, and spending time with her friends and family.
