Caitlyn McKinley

McKinley

Professional Summary

Caitlyn received her Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Master of Applied Science both from Queen’s University before deciding to pursue a career in health care instead. She was drawn to Occupational Therapy due to its focus on holistic, client-centred care and its broad scope of practice. She graduated from Queen’s University in 2019 with her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and started working at Modern OT as a new graduate.

Throughout her education, Caitlyn gained experience working with adults with a wide range of physical, cognitive, neurological, and mental health conditions. She completed placements within the Chronic Pain Clinic and the early psychosis intervention program at Hotel Dieu, and in acute and convalescent care at Lennox and Addington County General Hospital. Her drive to challenge herself and to develop a better understanding of the role culture plays in occupational therapy led her to complete her final placement at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre in Moshi, Tanzania.

Caitlyn is excited to bring the unique perspective provided by her background in engineering to her work as an occupational therapist. In addition to her strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills, she is keenly aware of the impact that a person’s environment has on their daily function. She believes bringing this analytical approach to the holistic client-centred care emphasized by occupational therapy will allow her to collaboratively work with her clients towards achieving their goals.
