Professional Summary

Cisela graduated as an Occupational Therapist in 1992, having obtained her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Dalhousie University.  She furthered her studies by pursuing her post-professional Master of Science, focusing on Workplace Mental Health (WPMH), with the title of her thesis being “Rethinking Workplace Mental Health: A Discursive Study of Private Disability Insurance Policies in Canada,” graduating in 2022. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Dalhousie University, earned in 1988.

With over 30 yrs experience in the field of disability management, Cisela has worked with a variety of Rehabilitation Providers in both Ontario and Nova Scotia, as an employee with a large private insurer and with a variety of insurance plans such as Short and Long Term Disability (STD, LTD), Workers’ Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), Workers Compensation (WCB), and, since joining Modern OT, Partners in Canadian Veterans Rehabilitation Services (PCVRS). She has worked extensively across Eastern Ontario supporting adults at home and in the workplace to gain wellness and independence, with a wide variety of conditions ranging from stroke, brain injury, Multiple Sclerosis, anxiety, depression and more.

She has a special interest in Workplace Mental Health and has a wide breadth of experience in this area, assisting employees in returning to the workplace and/or a productive life. She is committed to maintaining a healthy work-life balance and promoting positive mental health and well-being. She enjoys empowering her clients to thrive as they regain their confidence, build self-belief, and navigate their path to wellness and well-being.

Cisela recently returned to Ontario to be near her children. In her free time, she enjoys dog sledding, Scuba diving, travelling, spending time outdoors, and reading.
