Professional Summary

Donna Matheson’s over 20 years of professional experience results in her being highly skilled at evaluating the physical, functional and psychological levels of disability of individuals who present with limitations in their activities of daily living. She has developed expertise in providing treatment to individuals having sustained orthopaedic and musculoskeletal injuries, upper extremity injury, chronic pain, and acquired brain injury. She is skilled when working with clients with mental health issues, including people depression, anxiety, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

In addition to significant treating experience, Donna has experience completing Independent Evaluations and Medical Legal Assessments.

Donna Matheson worked for over 15 years at the Ottawa Hospital – Civic Campus, as an occupational therapist in the Geriatric Assessment Unit, inpatient and outpatient Plastic Surgery department (hand therapy) and inpatient ICU (upper extremity, burns), as well as medical and surgical rehabilitation. She also worked as a Consultant Occupational Therapist providing clinical education and program development for Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in Kuwait.

Working for over 10 years in community-based rehabilitation, Donna has worked extensively with individuals recovering from motor vehicle accidents, assessing for benefits eligible under Ontario’s Statutory Accident Benefit Schedule and facilitating rehabilitation from time of injury through to return to activities of daily living and return to work.

Donna Matheson has trained in advanced office ergonomics, return to work planning, and physical demands analysis and is a certified KEY Functional Capacity Evaluator. She has completed Ergonomic Evaluation Certification Program and Advanced Ergonomics Topics in San Diego, CA. She is also trained in the Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP).

Donna is a member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, and Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists.
