Professional Summary
Emily obtained her Bachelor of Physical and Health Education (Honours) and a Certificate of Disability in Physical Activity from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She then went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Applied Health Sciences from the University of Western Ontario, before earning her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Alberta. Emily’s extensive educational background has equipped her with a strong understanding of the determinants of health and the factors that influence health across the lifespan. She is committed to delivering person-centered, holistic care, using her expertise in physical, mental, and environmental health to help individuals achieve their goals and improve their well-being.
With a diverse background in both physical and mental health, Emily has had the privilege of supporting clients across all ages, from children to seniors. She has a particular passion for pediatrics, employing a child-centered approach to help young clients overcome developmental, physical, and mental health challenges, enabling them to thrive in everyday life. Emily is also dedicated to serving military members and veterans, offering specialized support for their rehabilitation using a trauma-informed lens to foster healing and empowerment. Her holistic approach prioritizes recovery, resilience, and overall well-being, with a deep commitment to those who have served.
Emily is devoted to creating personalized treatment plans that promote independence and a high quality of life for her clients. Guided by compassion, collaboration, and a commitment to lifelong learning, she ensures that each individual receives the care they need to reach their full potential. Emily continuously strives to stay at the forefront of best practices in the field, seeking out opportunities to expand her knowledge and refine her skills to better serve her clients. Emily has completed additional training on topics including working with Canadian Armed Forces and veteran populations, sensory processing, grief and loss, and motivational interviewing.
In her free time, Emily enjoys running, weight training, backcountry hiking, and spending quality time with her friends, family, and her cat and dog.
