Professional Summary

Genna is a passionate occupational therapist and a strong advocate for her clients. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Drawing from Concordia University, and obtained her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from McGill University in 2016. Her interest in occupational therapy arose from her own experience with serious physical injury and the intensive rehabilitation that followed, which in turn empowered her to pursue the rehabilitative sciences.

Genna has clinical experience working with survivors of motor vehicle collisions and workplace injuries in both clinic and community settings, providing assessment and treatment services to address a multitude of mental and physical health conditions, symptoms, and diagnoses. She has worked in both vocational rehabilitation and a psychological health clinic, where she has treated children and adults of all ages with a wide range of mental health issues. Genna has extensive training in a variety of psychotherapy modalities, such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), rational-emotive behaviour therapy (REBT), schema therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and emotionally-focused therapy (EFT). She regularly participates in courses, workshops, and seminars to further her knowledge and skill, which enables her to better support her clients toward their recovery-oriented goals. She specializes in treating individuals who are struggling with their mental health, including the effects of chronic pain, post-concussive symptoms, and mood disorders, along with symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Genna believes that each individual’s story matters, and she applies compassion and acceptance to her person-centered approach to client care. Genna is dedicated to empowering her clients through education and employing evidence-based methods to address their complex health conditions as well as widespread healthcare barriers. She believes that her passion for healthcare and her unique perspective as both a client and professional enable her to meaningfully connect with clients as well as their supporters, team members, and stakeholders.
