A big congratulations to Christine Girard for her appointment to Team Canada’s Chef de Mission for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.

In addition to being an occupational therapist with Modern OT, helping clients on long-term disability return to the workplace, Christine is a two-time Olympian in weightlifting, earning a gold medal from the London 2012 games and a bronze medal from the Beijing 2008 games! She has also competed in three Pan Am games, earning a gold medal in Guadalajara in 2011.

Christine is also a strong advocate and a role model in the sporting community. She currently sits on the International Weightlifting Federation’s Anti-Doping Commission and is an Education Ambassador with the International Testing Agency, helping to promote the important of clean sport.

As Chef de Mission for Team Canada, Christine will continue to support athletes in having a fair and positive experience with sport.
