Professional Summary

Owen earned his Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Queen’s University and completed his Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences degree from Carleton University. His education and experience have provided him with a holistic understanding of the determinants of health, allowing him to address the broad range of factors that influence well-being. Owen carries this comprehensive perspective in his occupational therapy practice, ensuring that he addresses each client’s unique needs through a thoughtful, person-centered approach to care.

Owen works with individuals who face challenges in daily living and supports them across physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and environmental domains. His clients include individuals recovering after motor vehicle accidents, veterans transitioning to life after service, military personnel returning to duty, and clients seeking support after changes in health. Prior to joining Modern OT, Owen gained experience working with adults in community mental health and slow-stream hospital rehabilitation settings. These experiences equip him with a diverse skill set in addressing various challenges, including supporting clients with mental health conditions, complex physical rehabilitation, and helping clients regain their independence. He has strong problem-solving skills, the ability to create tailored intervention plans, and a compassionate approach to guiding clients through complex recovery journeys. Owen has a particular interest in supporting clients with home safety, helping them remain safe in their homes and age in place with the proper supports.

Owen is committed to lifelong learning and continuous professional growth. He actively seeks opportunities to expand his expertise, ensuring that his clients benefit from the latest evidence-based practices.  In addition to his education and experience, Owen has completed training in dementia inclusive care, concussion and brain injury and return to work, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), mental health first aid, trauma-informed care, and non-violent crisis intervention. Owen is passionate about empowering clients to overcome daily challenges and reach their full potential, providing tailored support and guidance to help them improve their independence and quality of life.

In his free time Owen enjoys spending time outdoors, staying active, and spending time with friends and family.
