Vocational Assessments and Career Planning

Vocational Assessments help individuals to make realistic decisions to determine training, education, and employment options using a variety of psychometric testing.  The results  factor in medical and disability information to determine career options and to understand vocational potential and overall employability.

Career Planning Assessments are designed to help students aged 16 and older with choosing a career path. This is not a medical or disability-focused assessment.  Career options are presented that would match the student’s interests and abilities, as determined by the test results.

A vocational assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that matches a person’s aptitudes, intelligence, and achievements with their interests and personality to provide recommendations on appropriate job / career pursuits.
Assessments take 5-6 hours, include an interview with the vocational evaluator and the completion of some testing. Please note that breaks are provided during the assessment.
Assessments are administered by a vocational assessor, and include an interview as well as the completion of the aptitude, interest, and personality tests. The assessment can take place virtually, or in person at our Modern OT clinics in Ottawa, Kingston, or Pembroke, Ontario. Assessments can also take place in your home, with some additional charge for travel and set up.
Vocational assessments cost $2000 + HST, and include the interview, testing, review of available medical reports, and the preparation of a report with recommendations. A virtual follow-up appointment is also provided to review the assessment results.
Yes. The report provides all test results along with an analysis of the findings and recommendations of career / job options. If there is an identified need for vocational counselling to guide career development, this will also be included in the report recommendations.
A Transferrable Skills Analysis is included in the vocational assessment report. Upon request, it can be completed alone. A Labour Market Survey is not included in the standard vocational assessment, but it can be completed upon request. There are additional costs for the Labour Market Survey.
