Kali Gilchrist
Professional Summary
Kali holds a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) with a major in Life Sciences and a minor in Psychology, both from Queen’s University. Her strong academic background, combined with broad clinical experience, has provided her with a holistic understanding of the various physical, mental, environmental, and sociocultural factors that influence health and well-being. She brings a compassionate, strengths-based approach to occupational therapy, working collaboratively with clients to support their goals.
As an occupational therapist, Kali works with a diverse range of populations, including military veterans transitioning to civilian life, active military members returning to duty, individuals recovering following motor vehicle accidents, and clients seeking support regarding health and well-being. Prior to joining Modern OT, Kali gained clinical experience in a diverse range of settings, including paediatrics, forensic mental health, geriatrics, and developmental services. She has worked with children to develop school-based routines, emotional regulation and fine motor skills; facilitated group and individual interventions with incarcerated adults to enhance coping, stress management, and activity engagement; and conducted comprehensive assessments and care planning for older adults experiencing cognitive decline and age-related life changes. Her experiences with diverse clients across the lifespan have shaped her flexible, client-centred approach to therapy and her ability to support navigation of complex recovery and rehabilitation journeys.
Having grown up in Pembroke, Kali is excited to contribute meaningfully to her local community through Modern OT. She is deeply committed to lifelong learning, continually seeking professional growth through research, courses, workshops, and reading. Her previous coursework and learning have contributed to valuable knowledge in skills related to cognition, brain injury, aging/aging in place, as well as goal setting, pain management, fatigue management, mood regulation, and time management.
In her free time, Kali enjoys curling up with a good book, crocheting, staying active, and coaching volleyball.
