Christopher Laguerre
Professional Summary
Chris earned his Master of Health Sciences in Occupational Therapy from the University of Ottawa in 2024, completing the program in French to support bilingual health services in Canada. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminology from the same university.
Chris has extensive experience working with children and adult populations in mental health, case management, and social support, both in Canada and Brazil. Before becoming an OT, he worked in social services with children’s aid societies, community centres, and emergency shelters for youth. In these roles, he supported clients with service navigation, mental health needs, community reintegration, suicidal ideation, and engagement in work and leisure activities.
As an OT, Chris has practised in Ottawa, Ontario, supporting both neurotypical and neurodivergent clients. His work mainly focused on self-regulation, physical activity, mental wellness, sleep hygiene, and sensory management across home, school, work, and leisure environments. These diverse experiences have enhanced his collaboration, problem-solving, and time management skills, as well as his ability to develop innovative interventions based on recent evidence-based interventions grounded in the latest peer-reviewed research.
Chris is dedicated to continuous professional growth, supporting clients in both Ontario and Québec. He is passionate about enhancing clients’ quality of life and overall well-being. Chris strives for equity for all clients by advocating for their needs and overcoming systemic barriers that hinder their full participation in meaningful lives. His goal is to empower individuals to find balance, purpose, and possibility in their everyday lives. He actively fosters inclusive and safe environments for colleagues and clients from all communities, regardless of age, gender, level of functioning, ethnicity, or religion.
On a personal note, Chris enjoys travelling, music, exploring nature trails and hikes, and staying active through sports such as soccer, volleyball, tennis, and pickleball.
