Assessments
Comprehensive assessments of all of your needs following a motor vehicle accident.
We have extensive experience working in within Ontario’s automobile insurance benefits and the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS). Additionally, we are registered providers with the Health Claims for Auto Insurance Processing (HCAI).
Insurance companies often require assessments to understand the impact that injuries have on your daily life following a motor vehicle accident. Our occupational therapists understand the need for thorough assessment, and provide a complete report outlining recommendations for assistance, assistive devices, and therapy to help your recovery.
The normal life activities that the occupational therapist can assess include personal care, housekeeping, caregiving, work /school activity and leisure. The occupational therapist will address the individual’s physical, cognitive/perceptual and emotional status, and determine barriers preventing participation in normal life activities.
Standardized assessments as well as interview and observation take place. The assessments can occur in the home, the community, or in our clinic setting.
Assessments include:
- Home Safety
- Home Accessibility
- Attendant Care Needs
- Housekeeping and Home Maintenance Assessments
- Situational Functional Assessments
- Cognitive Assessments
- Job Analysis / Physical and Cognitive Demands Analysis
Assessments are often completed at the outset of occupational therapy involvement for treatment planning purposes. Assessments can also be administered as a mid-therapy and end of treatment evaluation to measure progress, or for a status report prepared for legal or insurance purposes.
